LEED-Certified Building
The Leo A. Guthart Hall for Innovation and Discovery is a 52,000-square-foot business school building designed and built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification standard, with the United States Green Building Council.
Curriculum
Awareness of ethical and social responsibility issues in business is one of our core educational objectives. We aim to teach sustainability, social responsibility, and ethics by offering dedicated courses on these topics and by weaving it into several required courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Courses dedicated to these topics include:
- HUHC 021E: Sustainable Investing
- MGT 157F: Sustainability for Business Innovation
- MGT 228: Organizational Strategy for Sustainability
- MKT 257A: Sustainable Marketing
- MBA 214: Compliance, Ethics, and Sustainability
Additional courses that cover sustainability and corporate social responsibility include ACCT 124: Financial Accounting Theory and Practice II; BBA100: Business and Society: Foundations for Professional Development; FIN 101: Introduction to Finance, Financial Markets and Institutions; FIN 110: Fundamentals of Corporate Finance; and FIN 203: Managerial Finance. Students review journal articles and reports on sustainability; discuss the CSR Index and business practices.

Our building is home to a Behavioral Research in Business lab, the Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and IdeaHUb, multiple areas for collaborative study, and administrative, faculty, and student club offices
Learn More 禄Experiential Learning Opportunities
To immerse 糖心传媒 in business environments, we provide experiential learning opportunities. This includes internship opportunities in the United States and abroad. We support 糖心传媒 who are interested in learning more about sustainability and corporate social responsibility by assisting them in identifying and securing related internships with the help of Hofstra鈥檚 Center for Career Design & Development and our Dean鈥檚 Advisory Board and department advisory boards.
Our 糖心传媒 have participated in a summer internship program at AstraZeneca in Johannesburg, South Africa, which blends a global internship with corporate social responsibility. Students have also worked on a program to increase breast cancer detection and treatment in underserved African communities.
Faculty Research
Our faculty in all our departments within the Zarb School conduct research around corporate social responsibility and sustainable business practices and publish articles in academic journals and present findings at industry conferences.
